Art, Craft, in McLaren Vale
Closure of the two main outlets for Art and Craft in McLaren Vale in June 08
has made local makers look elsewhere to reach the public. Dridan Fine Arts
and the Old Bank Artel have shut their doors on June 30th. A loose collective
of artists and craftspeople have decided to club together to hold a market
on the last Sunday of each month at the Singing Gallery on the corner of Main
Rd and Aldersey Street, McLaren Vale. The Venue is ideal; the space inside
is quite unique as it used to be a church, with a lovely high roof and timbered
ceiling, a stage where musical performances are regularly held and also a kitchen
area for the preparation of food and refreshments. Outside, the garden area
will provide additional spaces for stallholders during warmer weather. The
market will be called the “LAST SUNDAY MARKET” with the inaugural
market being held on Sunday June 29th between 10am and 4pm. Initially there
will be some 15 or 16 stallholders selling a huge variety of Art, Craft including
photographs, textiles, jewellery, pottery, produce, hand made paper, assemblages,
woodwork, clothes and fashion accessories. Additionally food and refreshments
can be purchased whilst occasional music will be played on stage. (Craft making
demonstrations may be held also). This is a great opportunity to meet the makers,
discuss how things are made and have an interesting time whilst in McLaren
Vale – Gateway to the fleurieu Peninsula wine region.

TROTT'S BALL
To those of you who love a good drop of red wine. Why not drop into Wirra Wirra Winery in Mclaren Vale to
see one of Robins pieces in dedication to the late Greg Trott. He was known to love a good game of cricket
and with this in mind Robin set out to create the largest cricket ball in the land. This piece was created from Redgum
found on the property and with many hours of turning the legend of Trott's Ball was born.
